A new heating boiler can make the wintertime tolerable
Icy winds of winter curl through the trees and you huddle at your window, thinking of heating for your house – this season perhaps you should get yourself central heating. Heating your home will make it a relaxing and cosy place to be, so therefore you need a reliable and economical central heating system.
Central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of heating radiators, boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.
Pumped systems are more common, they have a feed and an expansion tank, another hot water tank is the core of the system, it stores hot water as it heats up and then uses the pipes to transfer heat to the central heating radiators. Due to heat, the water in the tank expands and fills it up.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the radiator. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. Chief benefits of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like air locks are also not associated with such systems; furthermore, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.
You may ask why you need central heating and what are its rewards?.
The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your surroundings. Gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters were more commonly used in the past. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.
The gas central heating systems are free from all these drawbacks but they need regular maintenance to keep them functioning reliably. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold weather after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Try to switch on your central heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before wintertimes approach and fixed at a time when the plumbers are less busy.
Furthermore, some of these systems also give admission to air and dirt; therefore draining is a necessity, which should be done regularly with an annual service schedule. The best way to do it is to keep a bucket under the valve, and slowly open it to allow all the water to come out; before closing the valve, ensure that no more water is coming out.
